Default Classic eBaY® Showdown Lowdown!

Welcome to the 1st Annual RaceWeek THUNDER Classic eBaY® Showdown!

NASCAR has the Chase and now RaceWeek THUNDER has the Showdown.

I started this game back in September of 2002 and named it RTR and ran it the final 9 races of that season. I'm doing it again 6 years later but instead of 9...I'm adding 1 more to make it nice and even.

Everyone will get a clean slate as this will be ran completely separate from the regular RaceWeek THUNDER. Were going old school with the rules and format.

Race threads have already been posted and will be opened as the races near.

Every player will need to post their votes the appropriate race thread.

Now let's get on with the program and give the newbies a refresher of how it's played.

HOW TO PLAY
Quote:
(ALL VOTES MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE START OF THE RACE)
Each week you'll get to compete for as much as 22 points in this version of RWT! It doesn't come easy though because you have to know how to play of course and you have to have a good idea of who runs well and who doesn't at each NASCAR track.

The object of this game is to pick the winner (rabbit), the loser (turtle), and the rookie (obviously rookie).
Rabbit Turtle Rookie!
Heres how the points are awarded...

Say you picked Kyle Busch to win the race...he'd be the rabbit pick. If he won then you'd get 5 points, if he finished 2nd then you'd get 4 points, finishes 3rd then you get 3 points, fourth will earn you 2 points, and 5th will get you 1 point. If he finishes outside of the top 5 then you wont get any points.

Ok, next you need to pick your turtle. Lets give Michael Waltrip the honors. If he finishes 43rd then you'd receive 5 points. If Michael finishes 42nd then you'll get 4 points, if he finishes 41st then you'd get 3 points, 40th would get you 2 points, and 39th would get you 1 point. If your Turtle pick finishes 38th or better then you wont receive any points. This year, make picks that have a good chance to make the race because a DNQ for your turtle will not get you any points.

After the turtle you'll need to pick a rookie. Sam Hornish Jr. seems like a good pick and basically all you need to know is that the driver you pick for the rookie either wins or loses. In other words...if Sam finishes higher than all the other rookies then you'll get 3 points and if even one rookie finishes higher than your pick...you wont get any points.

Finally, you'll get to pick a driver...any driver and the second digit of that drivers finishing position will determine how many extra points you get...(between 0 and 9). For example if your driver was Kevin Harvick and he finished 16th then you would get 6 bonus points...however if he finished 10th...you wouldn't get any. If your wondering about those top 9 drivers...well then, thats easy...you get that many points...an 8th place finish will get you 8 points!
Now to the good stuff

The Overall Winner of the Showdown this year will win a $10 eBaY® Gift Certificate!
