RaceWeek THUNDER 2008- How to Play!

Welcome to RaceWeek THUNDER 2008.

This year's game revolves around picking drivers that affect the whole race weekend of an event.
RaceWeek THUNDER entrants will play for up to 39pts!

At the end of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season every players lowest score will be dropped. The 35 highest scores will be the ones that count!
Lowest scores will be displyed in the standings list and will be deducted after the last race of the season is calculated.

All votes and vote edits will need to be posted by qualifying day of each race weekend.
Any member that votes or edits thier votes after qualifying is over will receive a 10 point penalty possibly resulting in a weekend score of zero.

Pole Sitter- Qualifying is an important part of the race weekend because it determines who races and who doesn't. It also can affect the outcome of a race at places such as Bristol, Talladega, and Daytona because the starting position can be the difference between running up front or getting involved in an accident towards the back of the pack. Your goal is to pick the pole sitter of the race for a total of 5pts. for a correct pick.

Wreckers- Race fans love excitement and many fans look forward to the Big One at Talladega and Daytona or the beating and banging at Bristol and Martinsville. Wrecks make the race exciting so this year players will pick a driver that they think will be involved in an accident and DNF. Players will receive 5pts. for a driver pick that results in a DNF. (Doesn't have to DNF due to an accident)

Checkers- One lap to go, is your driver leading? Who will be the highlight of the race? We made it to the end. The race winner is the highlight of every good race.
Players will pick who they think will win the race and earn points based on where their pick ends up in the final rundown.
If your pick wins you'll earn 10pts., a 2nd. place finish will earn you 5pts., 3rd earns 4pts., 4th earns 3pts., and 5th earns 2pts.
You never know how a race will end on the last lap though...some of the most exciting crashes happen coming to the checkers.
I understand that occasionally the leader gets wrecked on their way to winning the race so if your pick ends up finishing 6th-10th then you'll earn 1pt.

Dominator- The race talk and highlights don't end with the winner...the driver who leads the most laps is often a factor in the outcome as well. The driver who might not have won the race but had the dominate car affects the race as a whole and players who pick the driver who leads the most laps will earn themselves 5pts.

Underachiever- Let's not forget about the others...the drivers who didn't quite have it all together but didn't drop out either. Sometimes you're just not a lucky little doggy. Your goal is to pick a driver that doesn't finish on the lead lap...but finishes no worse than 1 lap down for a total of 5pts.
All picks of drivers who finished the race but were more than one lap down will earn 1pt.

Wildcard- Your race picks bombed out...you would have earned zero points? You're in luck unless you're that unlucky... Your wildcard pick can be any driver.
You will earn points based on the second digit of their finishing position. A 35th place finish earn you 5pts.
For finishes between 1st and 9th you will receive that many points...6th gets you 6pts.! However, a finish of 10th, 20th, 30th, or 40th will not earn you any points.

Your votes will be stored in a database from the very first vote you make this season and will only be updated when you submit new votes. Forget to vote and your votes will RollOver from the previous weeks votes!

I've never been the best player at my own game but I thrive for the challenge. Each week the top scores for the week will be posted in the race thread. If by chance I get the highest score of everyone that week I will give a 5 point bonus to the rest of the players added onto the following weeks score. Each week I will post my picks in the race thread for everyone elses advantage and to ensure fairplay. Can YOU beat me?
